MESSRS HALCOMBE AND SHERWILL'S STOCK SALE. Messrs Halcombe and Sherwill held a sale of stock at their Warwick-street yards, on Thursday. The attendance at the sale was good. The bidding was slow, but most of the stock were placed after sale. The prices realized were as follows : — Beef (cows and steers), £5 10s; two-year-old steers, £3 15s ; three-year-old heifers, £3 ; 18-months-old (mixed), £2 10s to £3 ; milch cows, £3; yearlings, £2 10s (good) ; calves, £1 6$ ; fat sheep. 10b tolos7d; ewes, B»9j_; hacks (indifferent lot offered, and*£ few screws were sold) ; cattle yarded, 235 head ; sheep, BGO. (pee united press association.) Wellington, February 9. Lnery and Campbell report tbat their market sales have been moderately brisk. Apples, 4s 6d per case. Fowls are worth 38 9d to 4s ; ducks, 4s to 4s 3d; turkeys — there have not been any for some time past; eggs are rising slowly, Is 6d being realised at auction to-day for them ; butter, scarce and much enquired for ; potatoes are scarce and price unsettled ; onions, £8 to £9.
