This match was played at Palmerston, < on Saturday last and resulted in a "win" for the home team by 6 wickets. Nix acted as captain for Manchester and Salmon for Palmerston. During the first innings of the Manchester men they experienced considerable inconveniene by •the late arrival of some of their number. Nothing of note took place during the .'game except two really -sharp catches by -Nix and -Roe respectively, and a capital " 'display of batting on the part of Charles 'for Palmerston, and Nix, -J. Bartholomew and- G. ("Bartholomew for Manche.*"»ter. During the first innings Jackson ■i received - -a'Tather severe cut' over the eye *wbilst;playing a ball delivered by Allan, .and for a time was -unable to continue Ihis -innings.
