* [PEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION. J Wellington, This Day. The Governor was entertained at dinner afc the Wellington Club last night. The Longhurst case was under tlie consideration of the Government this morning. The property-tax receipts amount to £62,000. A cable message has been received by Captain Rose, local manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, to the effect that the British King, the first of the Company's direct line of steamers, left Gravesend for this port on Friday last. Napieb, This Day. Both Volunteer companies have now enrolled to the maximum strength, and recreits had to be refused. It is intended to urge upon the (government the advisability of procuring serge suits in fche colony, in order thafc the men may not have to attend parades for six or eight manths in plain clothes.
