THE CLERK TO THE COURT.
Thb deputation consisting of the Mayor, P. Y. Lbthbbidge, Esq., and J. H. Fby, Esq., J.P. and M.C.C., who were elected many weeks ago to proceed to Wellington to interview the Minister of Justice on the appointment of a resident Clerk to the Court, has not yet acted. We are not advocates of undue haste in anything, as such haste is likely to frustrate the object desirable to be attained, yet we do believe in a certain amount of speed after a judicious " reflective pause " has been allowed. In the case of the deputation, more than ample time has been allowed for them to gather all the information necessary for their needs, and to have proceeded to Wellington to successfully achieve the object of their visit. In the meantime people have to put up with an inconvenience which miehfc have, ere this, been removed. We shall expect to have a report from " the deputation " at an early date.
