Wellington, Jan 19. Laery & Campbell report that business in fruit was remarkably brisk at their market sale to-day and of which, there was a great abundance. Apples hung somewhat on hand and were hard to dispose of at 4s to 4s 6d, but it must be confessed the quality was not first class ; better sorts did not meet vrlth more success, and were for the most part withdrawn. Plums, assorted, sold at 11s to 11s 6d ; apricots, 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; pears, 8s to 11 s per case. Eggs were not noticed bt all, bnt Is ld to ls-2d may be quoted as market price. There ocas no fresh antter, but a parcel of salt sold at 8d per lb Hams and bacon (remain without chang«. Cheese, about 7£d .to Bd. I^o other changes worth record. ',
