GROSS TYRANNY.
Skitville is a place somewhere on the Texas and Pacific railroad. Evidently it is not a ver}' populous town, • but it has a newspaper with an editor who dares to assert the rights of his fellow citizens. He writes :—-" This is the last time wo shall allude to the por-istent o:mssi<m to stop at this rown,«if the trains on the Texas and Pacific. The old excuse of the conductors that they wouldn't know Skiffle if they were to see it appears sinpulariy thin in the face oft.be fact that this ■ morning we platted a large painted stake besioe the track, 'which could .be readily seen by the engineer for the distance of half a mile. This evening a nail w.ill be driven into the said stake, and McOlue's stalle lantern kung thereon If the night express -also ignores this signal, it will be time tor the American people to fully ■ understand the malice of this infamous blow levelled at the prosperity of this growing ■metropolis by a bloated and cowardly monopoly.''
