Tenders for the one million four per cent, loan for New Zealand, were opened to-day. The total amount offered was found to be one million five hundred thousand pounds, at prices ranging from the mininum of 98| to 101 . Tenders at ninety-eight and nine-sixteenths will receive allotment to the extent of seventyeight per cent, Tenders above ninetyei"ht and nine-sixteenths will receive in full. '* A January 12. Collisions have taken place between the French and Chinese forces at Tonquin. The Times, Standard, and Daily News attribute the failure of the Victorian loan to the minimum being too high.
