CHRISTMAS.
We have overtaken and passed another Christmas in the rapid march of time. Some of us who have laughed and been merry during this festive season will have passed to our '' long homes'" ere the season comes round again, but .is this is only in the natural order of things it should not have a saddening effect — on the contrary it should make us glad that an opportunity yet remains lor us to prepare for our spiritual future, by good deeds dove in the present, joined with an honest repentance jf our sins in the pas-. This is neither the time nor place for us to do mor>s than merely make a passing allusion to this aspect of the matter. We p efer leaving such subjects to the hands of the able clergy we are fortunate in numbering among our citizens. But still this reflection is forced upon us Ly the memory of the number of »oo I men who have gone from among their fellows during the psst twelve months in various pares of the colony and at Home. We hope that the faces we will miss next year will be few, and that many new ones will hHve arrived to share ihe benefits tlu settlers of the MancVster Block enjoy-
