PERSONAL.
, ♦ _ I We have to apologise to the Secretary of the Wellington-M ana watu Railway Company, Limited, for the brief appearance of the advertisement of the company, calling '
for tenders for 10,000 slenyrs. The letter of advice, dated Sept. 15th, covering the advertisement, only reached us yesterday, (December Ist), although the envelope bears the postal dates, Wellington, Sept. 15th, and Feilding, Sept. 16th. As the term of the advertisement ended Oct. 10th, it was almost valuless to us and our subscribers. Although this letter has been lying in the Post Office, Feilding, for so loHg a period, we aie glad to be able to &tate that no blame is to be attached to the officials It appears that from shrinkage of the timber of which the private letkr-boxes are made, the letter fell through a crevice between the boards into an Unoccupied space below, and thus escaped observation until yesterday. Steps will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such an accident.
