Adelaide, November 24 It has transpired that Sir William Jervois has received a telegram from Lord Kimberley, offering him the Governorship of New Zealand, and that Sir William has replied accepting the position. Melbourne, November 24. Isaac O._;lc'. clerk in the employ of Mr Duffett, solicitor, of Melbourne, who was arrested in 'England in June last, has been committed for trial here for embezzlement. The failure is announced of Lievin, Godberg Bros., and Co., of tliis city. The firm's liabilities are set down at £65,000. The Australian team arrived here 'today, and were cordially received. A banquet will be given in their honour on Monday next, at the Town Hall, and on Tuesday a display of fireworks will take place on the ground of the Melbourne Club. The Engl'sh eleven commenced a match to-day against 22 of Castlemaine. The weather was fine. According to the latest reports the home team had four wickets down for 64 runs.
