FATAL QUARREL AT WANGANUI.
«. CHARGE OF MUEDEK. (PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanuanui, This Day. The assault case which occurred ou Saturday night last in Mr S. "Wright's yard and during which one liichard Thomas strnek Bowes, a fellow- workman, on the head with a heavy pick handle lias resolved itself into a most serious affair. Bowes died yesterday from tlie effects of the injuries thus inflicted, aud the charge which is set clown for hearing lit the 11. M. Court on Monday will now be resolved into a capital offence. It is regretted that so little is known of the circumstances of the case, as Mr "Wright refused at the time to give the police any information or even state with what instrument the injuries were inflicted, until the weapon had to be produced in Court and ordered to be delivered up to the police. Of course the evidence will now be forthcoming by compulsion, and by Monday all the circumstances of the affair will be known.
