LAST NIGHTS CONCERT.
Tiie entertainment which took place in tlie Town Hall last evening in aid of the funds of the Manchester Cricket Club, was well attended considering the boi.s terous weather which prcvaik d. On '.lie whole the audience was very selecl, t c front seats being all occupied. The first i>art of the programme opened bj r pianoforte selections by Airs Wright whose performance was warmly applauded, i.'hen followed a song, " The murmur of the Shell," rendered in fairly good style by Miss Bellve. The srlee, " Hail smiling morn " was very prettily rendered by the members of the Choral Society. Tn" plaintive song ''Home they brought h r warrior dead" was very fair.ly s'n. 7 by Mr ftugli.' A j loud encore .was called fo.-, and responded to. Miss Bellvo, wil!i the song, "Tine till dealh," wa-; even mora successful thun in her first . efl'jri, :m I responded to an* enthusiastic encore. '• The Brook" was sung by Mr C. E. Nicholas with his usual ability. The accompanists Tor tlie first part of the entertainment were Mrs Dow ling, and Misses C-. Bartholomew and..N.i.cholas, while Vl rs Wright played (he whole of the accom- > pauiment to the farce. In the choral pieces Mr Dowling was the able conrlu ;- tor. After an interval of 10 minutes commenced the second part of the programme, which consisted of the musical burlesque, entitled ' Bombustes Kurioso," which was the best piece of amateur acting ever presented to a Feilding audience. Each actor appeared to be so familiar with his , part as to render any hitch impossible, he "realistic effect" produced by the : introduction of Golding's ass, mounted I by Bombistes, fairly convulsed the audience. The performance is to be repeated at an earl}' date.
