ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

« [PER UNITED PUKS3 ASSOCIATION.] Wellington', Oct"ber 13. A . Government officer, Mr M". W. Lewis, Assistant Crown Lands Olficer, attempted to commit suicide on Thursday evening. He was to have been married to a Miss Dyer, but failed to put in an appearance at tlie appointed lime. It is generally believed that Lewis attempted to kill himself by cutting his throat. The wounds are not of a serious character. The medical men in attendance are preventing any persons from visiting Mr Lrwis. The unfortunate gentleman is well known in Palmerston North.
