MAKINO ROAD SCHOOL.

This school was examined by the Inspector of Schools, K. Foulis, Esq., on Wednesday, lßhinst. Present — Messrs Flavcll and Humphrey, on behalf of the committee, and Mrs Humphrey on behalf of the parents. There were 55 children in attendance, of whom 30 were formally presented. 19 wei"e below Standard I, 3 below Standard 11, aud 3 below Standard 111. The results were as follows : — Standard I. — Thirteen presented. The following passed : — Full passes : Charles Hall, Jens Petersen, Charles Guthrie, Charles Gardner, Geo. George, Peter Apel, Rosina Bly, Elizabeth Browning, and Alice Gould. Standard II. — Nine presented. The following passed: — Full passes: Christian Apel, Geo. Barker, Pearce London, Jane Dallison, and Mary Dallison. Passes: Jas. Newell, Mary Humphrey, and Joanna M alone. Standard 111. — Seven presented. All passed: Full passes: Arthur Bosher, Frank Flavall, David Browning, Freduiand Apel, Edith Humplu-ey, aud Agnes Hall. Pass : Elizabeth George. Standard IV.- Edmund G. Humphrey, sole candidate; passed, making 340 marks out of 470. Total presented, 30; passed, 25; per centage 83 3. At the close of the examination the Inspector expressed his entire satisfaction with the results of the examination, the efficient state of the school, aud the character of the teaching, particularly noting the chai'acter of the writing and the > xeellent appearance made by Standard
