THIS DAY. (Before R. Wabd, Esq., R.M.) CASE OF MSTUr«s. Mr Wright made an application on behalf of tbe woman Home, wLo-e husband is now in prison in Wangimu. Mr Wright appeared as Secretary of the Benevolent Society. He wished to know whether the Government would support her. Mr Ward said - that if Mr Wright -wrote to him he would forward his application to the Colonial Secretary. CIVIL CASES. Nelson v Hughes. — Claim for £3 4s, for balance of account for work done as a carpenter. H. Wright, architect, deposed that the yrork was wretched, and the material was sjaoiled — mere amateur's work. The work was of no value. (Mr Prior crossexamined the witness at some length.) H- Hughes, defendant, deposed that he employed plaintiff to make a window, altep^rrerandah, and paint a house. The price demanded for the work was £10. *He paid part in cash, and part by a horse, i He would be willing to pay the balance if the work had been completed to his satisfaction. I Verdict for plaintiff for £2 4s and costs Us. ! Dr Dowd v Wilkinson.— Claim for £5 5s 6d for medical attendance. Verdict for plaintiff with costs. Potter v Hastie.-- Claim for £3 10s. This was an application to take evidence, referring to a case to be hoard in Wanganui. On the application of Mr Prior the hearing was adjourned for 14 days. The Court then adjourned.
