The police have effected the capture of the second of the two men who attempted to rob the Commercial Bank of Australia at Avenel on the 6th instant, and who escaped into the bush when his accomplice was arrested. The man was identified in the city to-day and taken into custody. A boat capsized in the River Yarra yesterday, and two persons were drowned. Mr Fred Marshall, the well-known actor, is seriously ill, and is obliged to leave the colrmy. The steam ship, Liguria, is still quarantined. Mr Jas Pile passenger for New Zealand is suffering from an eruptive disease, but it is doubtful if it is the smallpox. [The vessel has since been released from quarantine.]
