MINING ACCIDENTS.

[PEB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Kumara, This Day. George Mansfield, a miner, yesterday slipped into the sludge channel and was washed out to the mouth, a distance of 3,300 feet. He was immediately rescued from the drop and taken to the hospital, lie was much cut and bruised, but no bones were broken. Fortunately the men in the Tarious claims were changing shifts at the time, or the consequences must have been fatal. A miner named Jas. Bord, when going down the ladder of a shaft at Larrikin's Terrace this morning, missed his hold and fell 45 feet. He was conveyed to the hospital, and died an hour later; aged 53.
