A GOOD OLD MAN.

One of the " runners." who has been connected with the delive-y of the Times for a considerable period is W. Wake--1 field, a man who is now sixty-four years of age. Wakefield is in possession of a double round — that is io say, he deli eers the Lyttelton Times in the morning and the Star in the evening, through the Waltham and Opawa districts. Six days in every week, winter or summer, wet or fine, Wakefield -walks no less than thirtyfour miles. Walking at the rate of upwards of ten thousand miles a year is not bad work for an old man of sixty-four ; and at the present moment Wakefield is vigorous enough to give many a young man long odds.— Canterbury Times.
