THE AWAHURI MAIL SERVICE.
We regret to learn that the settlers at Awahuri are still laboring under the great disadvantage 'of h a T-ng only a biweekly mail service. If a letter of importance, or in respect to which time is an object, has to be posted, there might almost as well be no outward mail at al', as the sender is un'd-er the neceesity of coming all the way to Feilding in order to post his correspondence. We feerfainly think that Awahuri should have at least a tri-weekly mdil both ways, and that this should be so arranged as to enable correspondents — to - -reoeive -and .answer their letters on, the same day, 'We see no reason why'this should not bt> so We [ have been assured- by those in postal authority that in every case where facilities' have beeri given" for ready despatch of letters, the increase of correspondence resulting therefrom" hag amply: justified the little extra expense and labor in-^ volved. Thib would doubtless be the^L case at Awahuri, and we strongly recon>m%^ mend the settlers there to. petition the Postmaster-General for such an .altera-; tion in their case as will meet all reasonable demands.
