After tea fallowed a conversazione, and among the numerous attractions provided we may mention a telegraph appaiQUis, telephone, galvamc battery, &c. " Signor Katerpelto, the renowned wizard of the Manawatu," was ensconced in a little private box, wb^re he foretold the " happy future " of any person who paid him a visit, and complied with-one indispensable.' condition, viz., to rub the palm of his hand with any silver coin. To patronis him was undoubtedly a great advantage, i.e., to the ""profossoi" lii.nself, who evidently did a first-rate business. But the most attractive ajKl amusing part of the programme was without doubt the "Art Tr asures Exhibi. tion," as it was facetiously styled". This was in a room by it c f, and a sp o'al charge of 6d was demanded for a view of the many "marvels" which it contained: The whole affair was very cleverly got up, the Key J. The proceedings trereenlivened by music, the pianists being the Misses Goodbehere, Gr gpry, Turner,, Stu.irt, and'Cb'p'eliiTid, the latter being one of the pupils of the public school. There were a large number of visitors from the surrounding districts, including Feilding. As we left, Mr She^will was disposing by auction the goods fhaE yet remained unsold, and after this some further items on the programme had to be gone through.
