In committee on the New Zealand Loan Bill, Major Atkinson asked M* Shrimski to withdraw his proposed new clause as to rating for deficiency, the principle having been affirmed by th« Hoase. The insertion of the clause ' would ruin the Bill-— Mr Shrimski de- ;- clined to withdraw the clause:— Mr Seddon then moved an .. amendment on Mr Shrimski'B amendment. -After considerable, further discussion (Jig committee divided on th« question that the words of the original motion be retained instead of Mr Seddon's amendment — Ayes, 42; noes, 33. Mr Shrimski's clause was struck out.
