July 12. ; Tt bas now been aseenainecl that, the P.-'vntia.is have suffered a loss of five j killed and *27 wounded. , The English ironclads hive sustained ] veiy little injury from the Egyptian guns. ' Some anxiety is felt for the safety of the Khedive, whose whereabouts are at present unknown. It is now authoritatively stated that, noiwiihstai.ding ihe protest of Foreign Consuls, the majority of (he luropean Power., approve of the bombardment of , Alexandrian forts by England. ] ALI.XA.M.IIIA, July 12. i All the inland sea forts have been ' silenced by the British guns. The ironclads will resume the bom- * bardment t<" -morrow, when the forts commanding the harbour will be attacked. A party will shortly land to blow up the guns in the silenced forts. The Khedive's palace, which stands near the sea forts, has suffered severely ] by tbe bombardment, and is now liter- i ally in ruins. < The statement that forty had been ' ■wounded on board the English ironclads by fire of .Egyptian guns is fully con- n firmed. July 12, 1 p.m. A flng of truce has been hoisted in the city, vnd a boa* with a flag of truce is now proceeding io the English squadron. - It. is now known that the bombardment will be resumed in (be morning, as , it has been ascertained that the Egyp- : lians repaired some of the damaged forts during the night. C p.m. The bombardment of the forts which bad been repaired by the Egyptians during last night has now been suspended. Several fires are now raging in Tarious purls of the cif}*. Admiral Seymour has authorised vessels to pass through tbe Suez Canal at their own risk. It has now definitely tianspired that tbe English ironclads have suffered a loss of live men killed and Iwenty-seven wounded. The previous announcement that this was the Egyptian loss was in- I correct. No reliable information as to the casualties on the enemy's side has yet been obta.ined.
