MINERS' STRIKE ENDED.
COLONIAL DEFENCES. SYDNEY. July 13. The arbitrators appointed to settle the Newcastle coal miners' strike have fixed the district price for coal-hewing at forty pence per ton. The miners will resume ! work on Monday next. j Messrs Mort and Company's annual sale of stud sheep was concluded to-day. The attendance at (lie auctions have [ been large, and keen competition was ■ experienced for various lots offered. The bidding throughout was spirited, and 951 sheep have been sold, realising a ; total of £20,251.
