AUCKLAND.
July 10. Tawliaio has written to Mr Dufaur, Winiata's counsel, alleging that, at the banquet at Auckland, on the occasion of his visit, Mr Whitaker said that all past troubles and causes of quarrels were to be forgotten from thenceforth. This he understood was an equivalent to amnesty for all past offences, and thinks the capture of Winiata an act of treachery. The Auckland Stud Company, have refused £1000 for their Musket-Sylvia yearling filly. The Herald's Alexandra correspondent says Parengera the father of Winiata, has become porangi (mad,) and armed himself with a gun and left the settlement, declaring his intention of having ulu, or payment, by killing a pakeha, ir half-caste. Tawhaio, hearing of it, Ijjas taken steps to restrain the madman.
