CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.
Wheat. — Shortly after the date of our last report, 5000 bags were placed in one line for Melbourne account, which had tbe effect of strengthening the market and producing a slight enhancement in values ; since then several smaller shipments have been made to Australia, whilst the demand for United Kingdom has been good. Shipping lines of good ordinary milling command 4s lid to 5s f.0.b., whilst for long-berried Tuscan 58 2d has been paid. Seed parcels of this description are changing hands for coastwise shipment at 5s 3d to 5s 4 f.o.b. Chickwheat is in strong request at 3s to 3s 6d. Flour remains without alteration at £11 10s per ton for sacks f.o.b. Sharps command £6 10s. Oats.— The anomalous state of this market still exists. Stocks are light. Dealers are almost bare of stocks, but between buyers and sellers there is a diversity in value of 3d per bushel, which precludes business. . For coastwise orders 3s 4d to 3s 6d f.o.b. are current quotations. Oatmeal is in g od demand at £17 per ton. Wool.*— Merino, B|d to 9|d; orossbreds, B£d to 9£; scoured Merino, ls 7£d; scoured cross-bred, 8d to ls sd ; greasy lambs, Bd.
