LOST IN THE BUSH.

PROVIDENTIAL ESCAPE. We are indebted to Constable Priec for the following information : After the ihquest on the unfortunate man, Pavid Sanson, who met such an awfully sudden dea ! h at TTaleornbe a few days ago, a man named Pat Morgan was much affected, ■ aad'oont-eqnently attempted to dro*vn his sorrows. in drink. His friends, observing his unhappy condition, determined io have; him put under restraint, in order to prevent him doing harm. With this end in view he was seized and put in a "dray, to be carried to Feilding. Misunderstanding their well-meant action, the wretched man made his escape, and . |led fnto the bush accompanied luckily -.-by his dog. A search party, under* the command of Constable Price, who had n the meantime arrived in Halcombe, was at once organised, and proceeded diligently to scour the country. For many Im-urs.their efforts were unavailing, and the approach of dark was making it necessary to withdraw the party far fear of losing any of their number, when the barking of the dog was heard, which ignided them to the secluded spot where the poor fellow was lying prone, w.ak, and exhausted, suffering bitterly from the cold. Kind hands soon clad him, *.. and carried him to Child's Halcombe Hotel, where be was soon comfortably . stowed away in wmtoi blankets, to reflect ■ over the narrow escape he had for his life. No evil results a"re likely to arise from his exposure. Pat Morgan undoubtedly owes his life to the watchfulness of his faithful dog.
