To Travel This Season. The thorohgh-bred Horse OP AW A. -. a t * - - OPAWAI % Ravensworth, out of Fairy 1 ' by Glancus—Spray by Donizetti —Lady Ann by Whisker—Ravenswol’th by Touchstone, Ac. It will be seen by reference to the above pedigree .that OPAWA is bred the rig-ht way for both pace and power, having on sire’s side the grand Whalebone Waxy, and Pantaloon strains, whilst on his dam’s side he boasts an equally illustrious line of ancestry. As a racehorse OPAWA proved himself a worthy descendant of his high lineage, having won some of the best contested races on this Coast, giving lumps of weight to his opponents. As a three year old, after standing the season, he won two weight for age races at Blenheim. As a four year old, after standing the season, he ran the Wanganui Stakes, £BO, weight for age, beating Folly, Black Eagle, Satellite, Tambourini, and Maid of the Mill. The next day he came out again and won the W.J.C. Handicap of £l7O, carrying Sst 31bs, beating nine others, including Tambourini, Black Eagle, and Maori Weed. In the same month at Taranaki he won the Cup of £SO, weight for age, 0 miles, beating Tambourini, altera splendid struggle. Ihe same day, carrying 9st 2ibs, he won the Ladies’ Purse, beating Tambourini, Resolution, and Cameilia. The next day OPAWA placed the T.J.C Handicap, £IOO, to his credit, carrying Sst 41bs, and then finished the day by winning the Railway Stakes in a canter. The following year he again won the W.J.C. Handicap, Ost 7lbs, and Wanganui Stakes, weight for age. OPAWA also won several other well contested races. It will be seen, therefore, that OPAWA is well worthy of the attention of breeders, his pedigree being of the highest strains of winning blood, and his performances unequalled on this side of the world. He is as sound as ihe day he was foaled, ami possesses a constitution of unsurpassed excellence. His stock have turned out well, as his first seasons foals furnished Doncaster, the winner of the Marlborough Spring Stakes. Terms— Single mares, £4 10s ; two or mure mares, as per agreement. For further particulars apply to the owner in charge. OPAWA will be at Bulls, Mondays. Sandon, Awa Huri, ami Feilding, Tuesdays. Palmerston, Wedxesdays. Halcombe and Makino Road, Thursdays.
