RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. GENERAL BUSINESS. The executive of the Franklin Racing Club met in the Franklin A. and P. Society’s office on Wednesday evening, the vice-president, Air A. H* .Tapper, presiding in the absence of the president, Air Dynes Fulton. There were also present: Messrs A. F. Brown, H. It. 4i. Wily, H. A. Stuart, F. J. Morrow .J. Kennedy, W. H. Hawke, T. Hancock, F. G. Parker. W. J. Taylor, C. AlcGormick, L. Dunn, S. J. Clews, P. L. Short. J. Reynolds, A. Medland, W. T. Dazeley, E. Keating. J. Beatty, and A. P. Daysh (secretary). Messrs Edgecumbe and White, architects, Hamilton, offered their services in connection with the erection •if the club’s new buildings.—The letter was received, and the secretary was asked to reply stating that the application would be considered at an opportune time. The chairman reported that the superintendent of the Ellerslie racecourse. Air Hill, had inspected the Franklin course, and he approved of the lay-out of the course with one exception, and that was the south-eastern bend, which he considered required hanking mi the outside. With reference to the draining of the course, it was stated that Mr Hill considered good work had been done, but he insisted mi the. main drain being widened and deepened if the club wanted to make a success of this work.

The sites for the various buildings and appointments were pointed out by Air Hill, who suggested that the offices and members’ stand, totalisator house and necessary outbuildings, he erected first.

The report was received. The secretary submitted the balance sheet, which was discussed and approved. This document will be dealt with at the annual meeting on Monday evening. The course committee was asked to arrange to have the course cleaned up, and to consider the advisability of planting trees along the railway boundary, while the matter of deepening the main trench was referred to the committee for a report. It was decided to ere»4 notice hour’ at various points asking people not to trespass on the chib’s property.
