WAIAU PA.
The increasing popularity of Waiau Pa as a seaside holiday resort is manifested by the large increase this year in the number of families camping there. It is estimated that over two hundred people are under canvas and are thoroughly enjoying themselves. The fact that the beach is so'safe and sheltered, while being Within easy motor .distance of Pukekohe is a leading factor in its growing popularity. THE SEASON. There have been exceptionally good crops of hay all round* the district, but great difficulty was experienced in getting it in on account of the wet weather during the holidays. This has been repaid to some extent by heavy drops of soft turnips, swedes, and millet. ROADING. During the wet weather settlers have had a trying time with the creamery waggon on what is known as the Creamery Road. A portion of this road between the church and the creamery site, the waggon was held up until 2 a.m. A very strong feeling is being expressed by settlers over the Council’s neglect in putting it in repair, for this is where the bulk- of the population is,, and several returned soldiers live along this road, and is their onljf means of access to the main factox-y. The attention of the Council has) been drawn to the matter and it is to be hoped that something will) now be done. GENERAL. A well respected settler, Mr Wallace, is in a private hospital in Pukekohe, and hopes a*re expressed for his speedy recovery. A great increase in the output of cream this season is noticeable, and it is anticipated that next year extra carting facilities will have to be provided. /
