There is however, inure sustenance in this year’s growth and the supply off cream to the factories is everywhere showing a very marked increase over a similafl period of last year. The recent rains have * resulted in f the grass coming away remarkably well. An amusing incident is related by the Oamaru Mail as taking place at a country polling booth in Waitaki on polling day. A lady voter* who had spent more than the usual time in the secret department, was noticed by the deputy to be passing the ballot boxes without inserting her voting paper, and her attention was drawn to the ommission. The reply wag that she had! already voted in the private apartment, and investigation showed that both papers had been squeezed through the very narrow crack formed by the closed door of a small cupboard, the top of which had been set) aside for the voter’s use when marking the paper. The papers were found after the cupboard door had been unlocked, but it must have taken all the feminine cunning* withi the aid of a hair-pin, to execute such a difficult feat.
