TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.

FIRST MEETING IN NEW YEAR. The first meeting in the year 1923 of the Tuakau Town Board was held on Thursday. Present : Messrs W. J. Taylor (chairman), J. C. Self, Jas. Pirret, J. Glasgow, F. G. Woolley, G. S.- Lapwood, and the clet'k (Mr A. H. Tapper). Invitation. The Loyal Tuakau Lodge, No. 9430. Manchester Unity, extended an invitation to the Board members to be present at the first annual meeting of the Lodge, which will be held in (Tuakau Hall on Tuesday, January 9th. -—The invitation was accepted. Licenses. Auctioneers’ licenses were granted Messrs Dalgety and Co (Mh H. D. Cooper), and Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons (Cedric William tHill). The cleric was empowered to issue licenses to any firm that may apply before next monthly meeting. Mr S. Kleinman was. granted a license for a billiard saloon situated pi George Street. Dog Registration. The dog registration fee was fixed as followsßona fide sheep and cattle dogs 2s 6d each; all other dogs 5s each. Special Meeting. It was decided to hold a special meeting on January 17th for the purpose of fixing the statutory half holiday for the year. A Dangerous Corner. Mr Woolley drew attention to the fact that owing to motoy cars and vehicles being allowed to stand near the corner in front of Mr Tapper’s drapers’ shop, the corner was made dangerous. He thought steps should be taken to prevent vehicles from 1 , parking near this spot. On his motion it was decided to erect a notice board warning people not to park vehicles within 50 feet of , the corner. A notice boat'd is also to be erected warning people to! keep clear of the weigh-bridge. Pay Sheet. Accounts amounting to £B4 5s 5s general account, and £lB2, 10s loan account, were passed for payment.
