NEW REAL GIRL §HOW. \ STRAND THEATRE—MONDAY _ NEXT. The accession of ten winsome girls is undoubtedly a step on to terra, firma. This has been proved by the record attendances which (this reorganised erstwhile wai»-born combination has been receiving in other parts of New Zealand during their present tour. The management have again shown correct judgment in. securing from Australia and even further afield a coterie of new comedians, singers and dancers, besides retaining some of the old favou»ites. Of the newcomers, the) most notable are Mademoiselle Claire Gooley, v a French ; Miss Eily Dalgleish, a "charming soubrette; Mr Claude Bell; one of Australia’s greatest baritones, and last but not least, Jimmy Norton, known throughout America as “That London Boy," a comedian and dancer of superlative talent. Mademoiselle Clale Gooley was imported from England a year ago to sing and play leading parts for Harry Musgrove’s Trwafli Enterprises in Australia. She ’ came for three months and stayed twelve. The. Diggers secured her at the end of her Australian engagement and New Zealanders will thus have an opportunity of hearing an operatic soprano of peerless merit. Claude Bell, the baritone, confesses to having, been born in Sydney. He, therefore, decided to travel and eventually found himself in London where he had the honour of singing at some of the Albert (Hall concerts. Not long ago he returned to his native land and was recently singing at thej Tivoli and Haymarket Theatres in Sydney. Miss Eily Dalgleish is a merry sou- ; brette who is already known to playgoers in the Dominion as a'member of the Sunshine Players Revue Company?' She has a charming personality . and is clever withal. Joe Valli, thei quaint Scottish comedian and dancer,; who made sucb( a hit * f with the audiences during last tour, is still with the company and has some delectable comedy -for the new programme. -. Stair LfaWson is not dropping out completely from the position of “Misleading Lady,” but he will be seen in parts as well, and he proveg rogre decisively what a'really he is. Gus Dawson and Tantf -Fama. are still with the company the former is putting forward some clever dancing*. “The Superb Six” all girl beauty bal— ? , let round off a fine show, while Diggers’ Orchestra under Mr Lockwood is as good as ever. FisP ally let it be said that never have the Diggers put forth such sumptous scenery and radiantly beautiful" costuming as they have on this occasion.
