The St. John’s Ladies’ Guild hell most successful “Christmas Fair”] the public hall, Drury, on Friday, j cember 15th. The function was i mally opened by the Vicar (Rev. I C. Wood). I The Fair was designed largely a children’s party; some twenty-1 boys and girls were in fancy dress, 1 they opened proceedings 'with I grand march, which was very "I done. This was followed by darJ which the little ones entered into 4 great spirit. The grand event of j evening was the entry of “Fa| Christmas.” His approach' wag.l nounced by three trumpeters inv| dress: after them came a barij girls dancing a very pretty , _ flbl dance, and then to the delight ofl and young (especially the yoJ Father Christmas himself appeal Curtains which had hidden the Cha mas Tree were then, drawn, and gfl excitement prevailed lentil it I cleared. The Guild had stall! various’kinds in the front portion the hall, doing good business, .■ these were presided over by the ■ lowing:—Work stall: Mesdames T* ers, Griffith, Girdwood and ApplH sweet stall: Misses Appleby antß Girdwood; soft drinks: Mesdamej Langford and D. Bremner; s« room: Mesdames F. Brooks, B. jfl sey, Langford, Waterhouse, V Main and Kiplock; Christmas Miss Barnes. ■ Mrs George, Mrs F. Cossey, an* Misses Gossey and G. Cossey, achß masters of ceremonies in an eflj manner. Prizes were given for the H dressed boy and girl in fancy JH tumc (donated by Mrs Moult) , a* lows: First girl, Sibil Bremner ■ tumn leaves) ; second girl, Kat* Cossey (orange and lemons) ;/ ■ boy, Bud George (stockman)..
