MEMORIAL IN YORK MINSTER. General Sir Arthur Wynn, Colonel-in-Chief of Ihe King’s Own Yorkshire Light Inl'anlry, lately unveiled the regimental memorial in York Minster to between nine and ten thousand of all ranks of the regiment who fell. The memorial is placed in the arcade of the Western aisle of the,North transept among the regimental memorials ol‘ the Yorkshire Light Infantry, the old 51st Regiment of Foot, ancl under the old colours which were borne in the Peninsula, Waterloo and Afghanistan campaigns. There was a: large gathering of past and present officers. Sir Araliur said Yorkshire was foremost in offering Hie flower of ils manhood in war, and 19 battalions were added to the peace establishment of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. The splendid services they rendered upheld and enhanced the reputation of the regiment. He handed to the Dean the Rook of Remembrance, with all the names, to be laid up among the treasures-of the Minsler.
