HINTS TO WOOL GROWERS. PREPARATION! OF WOOL FOR MARKET. ■ The following hints on the preparation of wool for market, and foruaidmg it for sale should be useful to .’farmers at the present season now that shearing has stirred and the annual sales are close at hand : branding- w ooi bales distinctly is not lea/jsed by many growers. There is risk of the wool being lost in transit or mixed up with other bales, unless clearly marked. Each bale shou.d carry a brand carefully stencilled with reliable black ink. In no circumstances should a farmer use paint, tar, tattoo oil, branding- fluid, or an oily substance as the creese oozing- from the wool makes this oily substance sqierad until it is mdecipnn Brands must be stenciled on both ends of the bales, in black tKnV, ?? ,n VPfiffht letters, not less tn-cn three inches in height. This is a rigid rule, which cannot be departed from, except -for the completing portions of clips already lin, for which complete specification can be provided. Deserves.—Wool for the local sale should not be hampered with high reserves. Reserves over value do not make the wool sell any better, and may prevent a good sale Under the regulations of the Woof Buyers’ and Wool Brokers’ Associations lots of one or two bales—i.e „ star lots—cannot be accepted for sale with re serves.
Growers’ instructions regarding disposal, and specifications of contents of bales, should always be sent forward to reach destination before *- .f, c ? ns, "« nmen L Delays in dealing with fit and expenses for double handling are thus avoided,—Farmers’ Advocate. • - 1
