When the votes i \vere counted’ the Sports Queen had. [a lead of between four and five Rfiousand votes , from the Trades Queen, the runner-up, the sums collected by each queen being respectively £302 6s and £245 2s 7d. These results were remarkably good, and the Sports Queen is to be heartily , congratulated on beating such a r hard opponent, , , The other queens are also to be congratulated on the substantial sums collected by them, the total contributed to the fund being over £920. The thanks otf the school are due to all the people of the district who, by work or donations, helped, to make the carnival such a great success. Special credit is due to the parents of the queens, who have spared no trouble to help the cause. Great credit is also due to the various committee far help given and donations towards stalls, .etc; to the 'Musicians who had given their serWes free* at so many functions; to the picture proprietors, who have given (free pictures to the various queens'; to the performers at the different concerts; to the various sports; to the staff of the school, to the press and last, but not least, to the children themselves, who have taken such a keen interest in making the carnival a success. (The crowning ceremony will be held at the ; breaking up of the school for. the Xmas holidays, about the 20fth Of December.
