We have pleasure in again reviewing several English magazines per favor of Gordon and Gotch,. and through the Bookery, Pukekohe. The very high standard being maintained is pleasing indeed, and these magazines are gaining in popularity all the time. The "Red” for September 15th Is a line number, being full of stories of romance, love, and adventure. Such stars as Nellie Tom-Gallon and Gaidar Wilson, .Michael Kent, 11. Mortimer Batten, Donovan Bayley, F. Morton Howard and Margaret Pedlcr are amongst the writers. The issue for September 2'Jlti as usual contains a number of very fine stories, is nicely illustrated, and as suggested by the striking cover is “of gripping interest.” This number opens with "101 Per Gent” by John Austin. This is a striking story, full of interest, throughout, and is followed by “The Good Hand of Providence,” and a number of exceptionally good stories by the most popular authors of Ihe day.
“My Magazine” for September must be placed amongst the best of the English magazines, and is Ihe class of publication, bright ,and full of educational articles dial, should enter every borne. The opening arlicle, “Thirty Pieces of Gold,” is of very great interesi, and "The Terrible! Bandit of the Wild,” story of a wolf and its wisdom, is cleverly written and interesting throughout. There are many other articles of high merit, and I hose pages devoted to Iho smaller children are all very good. As usual the photographs throughout are of a high standard.
