FIRE BRIGADE SPORTS.
LABOUR DAY COMPETITIONS, The Pukekohe Volunteer Fire Brigade’s annual competitions were held on Labour Day.. Great interest was taken by the firemen and some keen and existing- contests were witnessed. The Sleinbridge Gup. which has to be won twice in succession, or three times at intervals, was won by Capt. V. L. Brown. The latter, and Foreman W. Adams, have already won the trophy twice, and next year a great contest is assured. Capt. Brown also won the Wright Cup. The officials for the day were: — Judges; Messrs W. Hunt and Alaloolrnson: starter: Mr C. Miller; timekeepers: Messrs J. F. Deane and Mahoney.
The following are the results of the competitions;— One Man Coupling (1> division) Fireman L. Mitchell (43.4-ssecs) 1: Fireman S. V. Walson (48.2-ssecs) 2; Fireman Mitchell takes the trophy donated by Mr H. Dell.
One Man Coupling Event.—Fireman F. Adolph (36secs) 1; Capt. N. L. Brown (38.2-usees: 2 secs penalty: 40.2-ssecs) 2. Fireman Adolph takes Mr F. Bloxham’s trophy. Two- Men Event. Foreman W. Adams and Fireman L. Mitchell (32 secs; lsec penalty: 33secs) 1: Capt. Brown and Fireman A. Pierce (35secs including 3 secs penalty) 2. The winners take gold medals presented by Messrs Hodges and Wild. One Man Championship Coupling Coupling Event.—Capt. N. L. Brown (OOsecs, including 2secs penalty) 1. The winner takes the Stembridge Cup and gold medal donated by Mr Edwards. Foreman Adams (62secs) 2. The latter takes gold medal presented by His Worship the Mayor of Pukekohe (Mr John Routly). Gilbert Memorial Dressing Event: Foreman Adams (91.4-ssecs, including 2secs penalty) 1; winner takes rnedal presented by Mr F. Perkins, secretary, ltollinson (93secs, including 3secs penalty) 2: the latter wins the rnedal given by Mr F. Blandford. Three Men Carrying Event. —Capt. N. L. Brown, Firemen L. Mitchell and S. Clews (44.3-ssecs) 1; the team won medals by Messrs Allingham, Gallagher, and Lusher. Fireman Adolph, L. Mitchell, S. Watson (50.2-ssecs) 2. The aggregate points are as follows:—Capt. N. L. Brown, 15 points; Fireman F. Adolph, 13; Fireman L. Mitchell, 10; Foreman W. Adams, 8; Fireman S. Clews, 4: Fireman A. Pierce, 3; Sec. H. Rollinson, 3. Captain Brown therefore wins the Gup presented by Mr W. Wright, and also the gold medal donated by Mr .1. O’Malley. He holds the Stembridge, and Wright Cups for twelve months.
