f PUKEKOHE CLUB’S OPENING. On Saturday Vast the Pukekohe Club’s courts were officially opened. The weather was stormy and unericouraging from the outset a strong wind and frequent showers makingplaying conditions very trying during the afternoon, but as the opening had already been postponed (from last Saturday, the committee decided against a further postponement. The president (Dr Campbdll-Smith) in formally opening the courts, made mention of the fact that the membership had increased from 60 last year to a present total of over 100. In view oif ithis increase preliminary negotiations were being made to extend the courts, and proposals would later be brought up for consideration by the members. He then called upon Mrs Campbell-Smiith to serve the first bail and formally declared the courts open for the new season. Plav then proceeded as the weather permitted. The very itastefiul afternoon tea provided by Mrs CampbellSmith was thoroughly appreciated by the fifty-odd members and visitors present.
