The Franklin farmers' Auctioneering Co.. Ltd. report : At our weekly sale on Friday we had a good, 1 attendance, with good entries in some lines whilst some lines were short
Pigs came forward in good numbers and ail sold at prices on a par with last week. We quote : Small weaners 10s >to 13s. good weaners 15s to 20s, slips (small) up to 225. Poultry was penned l in good numbers (full pens), but not equal to the demand. Prices ruled high. Light hens realised 2s 9d to 3s, heavier 3s 3d to 4s 6di. roosters 3s 9cl to 4s 9d. clucks 2s 9cl to 3s 6d chicks 6cl to 10d>, hen and chicks 14s. Vegetables were in short supply, Cabbages brought from 2s to 3s 6d dozen cauliflowers 4s to 8s dozen, new potatoes 3V7d (first grade). Bacon : We had very heavy entries and prices ruled low. Guaranteed quality sold at from 4d to ib. Green peas 3s 6d peck, rhubarb 6s dozen bundles, lemons 8d to Is doz. apples 5s ensti, barley 4s bushel pigfeed 4s bag.
