CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
IMPORTNAT MEETING. A meeting of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce was held at *the secretary’s office on Tuesday evening. There was a veij’y attendance qf members. Mr Perkins occupied the chair. The business of the evening was mainly, devoted to the disaussion of the Mayor’s meqting on Saturday night The general ..feeling expressed was that the Chamber desired to assist the Council in every possible way they could in the difficult position that has arisen, The general feeling expressed by the public is one thing, but »the Chamber particularly stress! ed their desire to meet and assist the Council to straighten out -ae diljlcuties and do not desire to emthe Mayor. To this end a series of was agreed upon anti a copy sent to His Worship, so that in ail fairness he would have time to prepare answers before the time of the meeting. A large number of questions have been asked on the street by many ratepayers, and to clear up the position the Chamber carefully went through the list and unanimously agreed upon a number which will be brought forward. GENERAL PROGRESS. The Chamber also discussed the general advancement and development of the district, and felt that as a live body it was their duty to help on anything which assisted the district as a whole. Mr Webster drew attention to the fact that the Waiuku mail, which was previously a daily one, is now reduced to a tri-weekly service. It was decided to go into this matter at a future meeting.
