OTAHUHU.

A very successful children’s bail was held in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Hridayj 25th August last, the proceeds off which will be devoted to the purchase of equipment for the local branch of the Plunket Society. The majority of those present were in fancy dress and -prizes for the best costumes were awarded to Miss Elva Ayers (Spinning 1 Top) and Miss .Irene Wilson (Jockey). During the evening songs were 'rendered by Miss Rona Suisted, Miss E, Moffatt and Mr C. Suisted, and a djtvinty supper was provided by the ladies’ committee. The proceeds of the ball amounted to over £3O. The Otahuhu Gun Club held another successful meeting on Saturday last. The weather was all that could be desired and some excellent scores were put up. The followingare the results of the matches :

No. 1 sweepstake: Mr W. Wills (13 yards) Ist: Mr E. J/Finn ;,(16 yards) 2nd. “B” Grade Match : Mr H. Kasper (10 yards) ,Ist-; Mr C. A. Porter (10 yads) 2nd Mr C. Carson (10 yards) 3rd.

No. 2 sweepstake: Mr A. F. Box (12 yards) lsf ; Mr E. J. Finn (10 yards) ,2nd. No. 3 sweepstake ; Mr E. J. Finn (17 yards) Ist Mr W. McNally (13 yards) 2nd. e There were quite a number of spectators present during the matches and judging., from the interest shown it is fully expected. that there wi|l be a large attendance at future meetings. Mr W. B. Lloyd's generosity in allowing his property to be used as a right of way for pedestjriiaajs and motors is highly appreciated by the membqrs ,of the club.

The challenge of the Wlaiuku Club for a return match has been accepted by the club|. andl the match will take place on Mr- J. Thomasin’s property a it Otahuhu on Saturday next, the 9|th inst. The committee is also arranging for a ladies’ bracelet day shortly, and notices o.f the day fixed will be posted up at Otahuhu and Mangere, and will be screened at the local picture theatre. The secretary states that the committee and members Qij the club greatly appreciate the generosity of Mr Miles and partner (the proprietors of the thejatre) in agreeing to screen all notices and results of matches free of charge.
