“AN ELECTRIC MOTOR IN NEW ZEALAND.”
(To the Editor). Sir, —The above heading with a comprehensive illustration appears in the Saturday issue of the Auckland Star and the credit for this importation is given to the N.Z. Co-op-erative Dairy Co. The intimation is very opportune, synchronising, as it does with suppliers’ receipts of the magnificent bonus just distributed which the press and public were hailing in advance as an impetus to trade and. a general brightening of conditions over the extpnsive area the company operates and the towns and villages that would benefit by the milk suppliers’ expenditure. It will no doubt be V„ source of gratification to suppliers to learn that through the company they have again distinguished ithemselves by taking the lead in importing this new electric tractor, <and I hoi>e this will in a measure compensate them ,for the very small amounts received in the recent pay out on account of monies withheld during the y<jar. They m'ay, however, be asking hemselves will tthe next account of retained money pay out include an item qf so much per lb butter-fat toward the cost of this distinguished importation, to be set alongside deductions just made for reclamations, butter shares and
coa! and timber shares, which left many suppliers with a few paltry pounds and the remainder with a debit balance to meet engagements; entered into against the promised, mangnificent bonus, That the management could only advance payments of B%d first grade and econd grade, less charges, which reduced these amounts by about Id peril) during the three flush months of the season, and in the last pay out Y'J in many cases only another Kd C|fter deductions! but can purchase machinery of the above descriptron, seems to show that ;the prudent caution; exercised with regard to suppliers’ payments is not extended in othe'r directions, —I am, etc*, JOSEPH HENRY. Patumahoe, 4/9/22. (To the Editor). Sir, —In reply »to your remarks re MV Brown’s potatoes,, I wish to statethat the person responsible for the--a issue had no idea what the old growers were doing on PukekoheHill. I would like you, Mr Editor, to make a visit to Messrs Mason’s property, Messrs Evans and Diamond, Mr Duffy, and Mr Donald. I am only speaking of that side of the Hill, ,and alter 'the inspection will’ you tell us if it is necessary -for theold growers to take their Waits off toMr Brown. —JI am, etc., HILL GROWER.
