ENTERTAINMENTS.
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT, With the object of raising funds to assist the Franklin Plunket Society, Mr C. D, Barker arranged a concert which, took place in the Premier Ha'll! on Thursday evening. There was a ‘.large audience, which showed ijfcs appreciation of 'the various items by loud applause and a demand for encores, Proceedings commenced with the rendering of the National Anthem, followed by an overture by the orchestra, which comprised the following : Conductor, Mr C. D. Barker (pr'ano) ; first violins, Miss E. W. Rodgers, Mr H. V. Middlemiss, Miss M. Woods, Mr A. D. Clark. Mr J. Kearney ; second v.'oftins, Mr L. G. Middlemiss, Mj'ss E. Churches, Miss T. Fitness ; ’cello, Mr E. W. Pook ; cornejt, Mr G. G. Littlejohn ; trombone, Mr A. K. Russell; drums, Mr T. M. Stevenson. The orchestra then rendered Reverie (Fauconier) and Serenade D’Amour (Franz Von Blou) in a very pleasing manner, Miss Greta Brownlee rendered a pianoforte solo “Les Muscadins” (Wachs) in such fine style that she was called on for another item. < T he vocafl number “Waliata Maori” (Alfred Hill) was rendered by Mjiss Minna Kronfield, q'f Auckland, in such a brilliant manner that the audience demanded another item, which she gave an equdfy efficient rendition. Later in the evening Miss Kronfield was again heard to advantage in Denza’s song “May Morning.” Her beautiful voice appealed to her hearers, that an encore item was demanded and given in magnificent style. The following items completed the programme : Violin and cornet duet, “The Larboard Watch” (Williams), Mr H. V. Midd'lemiss and Mr G. G. Littlejohn violin scfio “Intermezzo” (TrousselJe), Master Max Nixon ; vjidlin duejt, I “Italian Song” (Caiil Bohm), Miss E. ! W. Rodgers and Mr H. V. Middlemiss ; cornet sdlo, “The Chord” (Sullivan), Mr G. G. Littlejohn ; orchestra, “Grand March” (Laurendeau), “Idylle Slovaque” (Lotter, “La Priere O’un Enfant” (HoMman); pianoforte solo, Vaise No. b, ‘ Three Four Suite 1 ’ ((>.:> ridge Taylor). Miss Dons Wright ; pianoforte so’lo, *St-idy op. 43, No. 15 (Hel'er), Miss Joan Dp rr-a : violin duet, Intermezzo “Cavalieria Rusticate! (Mascagni), Miss E. ..]W. Rodgers and Mr H. V. Midglemiss pianoforte duet,, Fanfare (Carl Bohn),, Miss Greta Brownlee and Mr C. D. Barker orchestra, 1. “Whispering” (John Schongerger), 2, “The Evening Hour” (filbert Kussner). During an Interval in the proceedings Mrs ADan P. Day (president) on behalf of the Kunkdt Society, thanked aIC for attending to assist in making the efforft successful. Mrs Day added tha>t the spec'll thanks of the Society were due to Mr C. D. Barker, the members of %he orchestra and the performers. The rendering of the Nat|onpf Anthem terminated proceedings,.
