GOLF.
On the afternoon of July Ist, a meeting of the sady members of the local Golf Club was held in the clubhouse. At the meeting at was decided to affiliate with the Auckland Ladies’ Golf Club Association. The following were elected to fill the positions :—President, Mrs Motion; vice-president, Mrs Bayly; captain, Mrs Campbe^l-Sm.ith; hon. secretary, Miss Pipi Wily; hon. treasurer, Mrs Johns ; committee 1 , Misses M. Clarke and I. Duncan, and Mi's Routs ton. Weather conditions for goif on Saturday last were far from favourable. but several matches were played during the afternoon. M|iss Ivy Duncan beat Mrs BajCy (3 up and two) in the final for the President’s trophy, and Mr F. O’Hara bealt Mr H. Tills (3 up and two) in the semifinals for a similar ‘trophy in the men’s competition. In the play-off for the Flavell trophy (a very neatly-finished brassey, suitably inscribed on a silver plate) Mr Bockett was successful! against Walters in a very keenly contested match, which finished one up on the 18th hole. Mrs Bayly beat Mrs Motion 5 up and 4 to play in the final for Mr Russelß’s trophy. The following is the details of the above matches Mr Russell’s Trophy. First round: Miss Wily beaf Miss MiHigan 7 up and 6 to play. * Mrs Motion beat M'ss Middlemiss 5 up and 4 to play. ■Mrs Bayly N beat Mrs Camphei'lSmith 1 up at the 19th hole, Miss Allan beafr Miss Mackenzie by default. Second round: Mrs Motion beat Miss Wily 5 up and 4 to pl&y. Mrs Bayly beat Miss A?'an 1 up. Ladies’ Trophy (President’s Match. First round : Mrs Johns beat Mrs Dfnsdale 5 up and 4 to p*iay. Mrs Bayly beat Mrs Motion 3 up and 2 to pjlay P> , Miss Wily beat MrSj CampbeHlSntfth 4 up and 3 to play. Miss Duncan beat Miss Cljewes 1 up. Second round: Miss Duncan beat Miss Willy by default, Mrs Bayly beaj* Mrs Johns 5 up and 4 to play. Final: Miss Duncan beajfc Mrs Bayly 3 up and 2 to play. Mr Flavelt’s Trophy.
