OTAHUHU.
The weekly euchre and dance social in aid of the Band was held in the Public Hall on Thursday evening and was as usual a thorough success. The music was supplied by the Band orchestra, and euchre and dancing were kept up until 11 p.m. The M.CJs* were Messrs C., Deverell and D. Carson,, and the winners of the euchfre prizes were Mrs Stewart and Mr Reddehough,
Ratepayers af’e reminded of the waterworks extension loan poll which fakes place on Thursday next. The polling place will be at the Borough Council Chambers and the poliing hours from 9 ajhn ( .. to 7 p.m.
The billiard tournament in aid of the School Carnival Fund, promoted by Mr p. T.- Morris,v has just been completed. The prizes were won by the following: First, Mr J. Philip; second} Mr E. J. Finn ; third, Mr A. Eustace. The conditions under which the (tournament was conducted were that all entrance; fees should he Vavoted to the carnival fund, and Mr Morris generouslv agreed to donate t.o the fund half the takings of Hi's tables on tournament nights as wel’> the result being theft a substantial sum has been handed; to the Carnival Committee. The three prizes were a billiard cue, given by Mr Tasker; a safety razor, given by Mi- Morris and ri trophy to the value of 25s g’ven by Mr N. T. Tocld.
A euchre and dance social was riven bn the Otnhuhu Football Club ill the Oftahubu Public Hall on Friday evening last, commencing at 8 p.m. The music was supplied by Mbs Farley (niano)y and Mr Chris. A rimer ton (violin) 'and the floor was in excellent condition. Afteff the conclusion of the euchre tournament, Councillor T. C. P. Whiteley., on hehoif of the cdub, presented the football caps g’-'ven by the League for the 4th grade for last season’s play, to the following members of the club t Messrs F. Higgins (captain); O. Nicholson. J. Kemplav, W. Hart; F. W, Eustace J, Lonenran; R. Lonergan., J. McGregor; C. Geodes; J. Dawkins. T. Greenhalgh; C. Stevens R. Brown; G. Brown; H. Tew: C. Paul; A. Kirkland: T. Bush: S. Kemp 'and L. Tomes. The medal riven bv the chib for the best player in the 6th grade last season was also presented to Mr Ed. Haggle. Miss Had field was ‘the winner of the ladies’ euchre prize, having played 13 games and won BJL The winner of the gentleman’s prize was Mr Phil Cooke,., who r.ffyed and won 12 n-ames. Dancing was kept no until II p.m.. when a most, successful and enjoyable evening was brought to a close. The M.C.s were Messrs John "NFcholson and- Frank Ellery. OTAHUHU FOOTBALL. Three matches wore played at Otahulm on Haturdav last, resulting in one win for the home tecins. Part’cul'ars of pi aye-s and scorns ate as under. SECOND GRADE. OTAHUHU V. CITY. This thatch resulted in a win for OAy, the scores being Cifty 10, Otahuhu 8. The referee was Mr Bouviard. OTAHUHU V. CITY. The following are names of members of the Otahuhu *eam who played in this match : N. Hill (full back); A. Kirkland. L. Brown and M. Kirkland (three-quarters) fiveeights r J. Whelan and C. Glynn; Rawnsley (half); C. Harrison. A. Todd; M. Rothwell; J. McOory; T. Greenhalgh; H. Neal (forwards.) The game resulted m a win fo' - Otahuhu, - the scores being Otahuhu 9, City 5. SIXTH GRADE. OTAHUHU V. MARIST BROTHERS. The following are names of ithe members of the Otahuhu team who played in this match : T.. Nicholson (full bac); W. Jones, Piper and R. Badv (three-quarters); A. Crow and Rugg (five eights) E. Haggie (half); J. Eustace, L. Brady, Piper; FlJtzgerald; Ellery and Harris (forwards). The referee stopped the game before time and the scores were Marist Brothers 6. Oltahuhu 4. Mr Bolivian! was the referee.
