We are assured that the utmost care is being- taken to expend relief funds to the best advantage. The great service and great sacrifice of Russia up to the time of the revolution undoubtedly saved the cause of the Allies in the Great War. The great calamity that has overtaken Russia is largely the result of an unprecedented drought in the Volga Valley. Four provinces in the stricken area are outside of the sphere of the Bolshevik movement. Dwelling in a land of plenty as we do we now have opportunity to show ; thyjt we are not forgetful of our blessings or of our suffering fel-lows.-—I am, etc. JOHN ROUTLY, Mayor, Pukekohe.
