Football enthusiasts gathered in fine force to witness the opening match of the season and several good games weriej witnessed. The Night Cadets V. Day Cadets actied as a cur-tain-raiser (to the Lodge match and resulted in a win for the former by 14 points to 8. Ramblers v. White Star, played on No. 2 ground, - esulted in Ramblers’ favour by 11 to 8 1
All interest was centred on the meeting of the two lodges, and the public were treated to a very clean and exciting game. Excellsior proved victorious by 6 points to 3, Fallows scoring a try and W. Adams a penalty for the winners, and Brownlee kicked a penaty goa for Manchester.’ Unity. FRANKLIN RUGBY UNION.
