PUKEHOHE EAST SCHOOL MATTER.

(To the Editor). fl Sir, —■'Will you kindly give me space I in your columns to give another lit- ■ tie kick >to the ball which “iflouse- I holder” set rolling along. It has*Sfone I somewhat out of its course, I think, I when from complaints against the I late headmaster, we found it advis- I ing our respected chairman to fur- fl nish, and staff his house, so as to fl enable assistants to live there. Ifl will now refer tb ’.the two letters fl published in Friday’s issue. The one I from our late liead-mistress needs no fl comment. We of Pukekohe East that fl knew her while she was residing fl among us, smile and say just what fl we might expect from her. There fl are one or two things I would like ■ to refer to in Mr Meiklejohn’s letter. H He seems to think that we in Puke- ■ East had an unfriendly feeling to- H wards him. Quite the contrary. We H always had the greatest respect for I him, and always wall have, I hopei. H Our children’s futures were at stake, H and Dr Douglas has only confirmed® what the committee have known for H a long time, as also the other doctors fl mentioned, who said that >to leave fl school-teaching was the thing hefl should do. Could anything be plainer. H What headway has the school of late. Look at our proficiency ex-® amination last year.. Three out of eight applicants, and two of® the fortunate ones were new-comers H to the school. I am not a member® of the committee, and have been a member. I am just ANOTHER PUKEKOHE EAST H HOUSEHOLDER.® (As no useful purpose can be ved by continuing this subject, correspondence is now closed.— Times.
