POLICE CHANGES. Constable Matthew Brady, who was stationed afl. Tuakau for! some time, has been transferred to Rotorua. Constable Smith, formerly cf Kawhia, has taken over the charge of the Tuakau station.. HALF HOLIDAY. At a special meeting of the Town Board, Wednesday was fixed as the statutory half holiday for the year.. AUCTIONEER'S LICENSES. At the last meeting- of the Town Board auctioneers’ licenses were granted the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited (Mr Norman Somerfield), and Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons (Cedric William Hill). HARRISVILLE HILL WORK. The 'work of re-grading Harrisville Hill is proceeding apace, and if the work progresses as it has done an early completion is expected... Good work is being clone, and already there is a great improvement in the grade.. NEW SCHOOL. The opening ceremony in connection with the new, Tuakau school, which is erected near the TunkaoPukekohe Road, will take place in about a fortnight’s time. The da,te of the ceremony vrill be announced later. The Hon. C. J., Parr, Minister of Education, has been asked to perform ithe ceremony. Invitations will be sent to many to attend the event and it is the intention of the authorities to endeavour' to make the function a highly successful one. A complete description of the school will appear in these columns shortly.. APPLICATION FOR HALL LOAN MONEY. At the last meeting of the Tuakau Town Board, on the nicftion of the chairman and Mr W- J r Taylor, the clerk was instructed to renew the application to the Insurance Department for a loan of £7OOO for the purpose of erecting a public hall. RATES. The clerk reported at Tuesday’s meeting of the Tuakau Town Board •that rates were coming in slowly, hut there was still outstanding rates amounting to £309 3s 10d.. The clerk was instructed to add the 10 per cent, penalty on all rates unpaid after 28th February.
